One of the benefits of knowing the staff at Calphalon is that when you stop by for a visit, you often walk out of there with something delicious. Like yesterday. Jane was at the retail desk when I came in, and as soon as she saw me, she asked, "Will you be here for a few minutes?". I said yes, and she dashed off upstairs.
After a little while, she came back down with a round, flat tin. What was inside was pure palate glee. She'd made this almond bark with a gorgeously creamy, just bitter dark chocolate, which was balanced with a perfectly crunchy toffee, and topped with slivers of almonds. Soooo yummy! Anyone I shared it with at the barbecue later that night agreed, and it went nicely with the 2006 Carmenere I was drinking.
