crêpe pont abbé

I stopped by La Bréhandaise again tonight after visiting with Chris Cran at the opening of his new show, Bright Spiral Standard, at Clint Roenisch Gallery. I started the day pretty early today and it's going to be a late night. So I figured I needed a little pick me up in the form of sugar and caffeine.

Last time I went to La Bréhandaise, I went with a savoury gallette, but tonight was all about the sweet, sweet crêpe. The Pont Abbé version is artfully drizzled with hot chocolate sauce, lightly dusted with confectioner's sugar, and topped with strawberries, kiwi, and a couple of pomegranate seeds. The crêpe itself is quite sweet, so it's balanced nicely by the bittersweet chocolate sauce. It's also got a really nice soft, slightly chewy texture.

To accompany my dessert, I ordered a café au lait. Although I was a little surprised it didn't come in a bowl, I'm so happy to have a late night spot for a very good cup of coffee. This café had that silky, slightly bitter, almost cocoa-y taste that I so enjoy.

Yep, I think I'll definitely become at least a semi-regular at this new neighbourhood spot.
